Home remodel on Chapman Dr, Corte Madera

The homeowners inherited the house which still had the original kitchen & master bathroom that the parents had put in in the 90s. The goal was to modernize the look of the kitchen, improve the functionality, have more storage space and make the house feel new without breaking the bank.

In a nutshell, we replaced the floors throughout the house, gutted the kitchen, & master bathroom. The most significant change was in the kitchen where we removed a weight bearing partition that separated the kitchen from the living room.  In place of the wall, we had to put an exposed PSL beam. To hide the unappealing look of PSL lumber, we wrapped the beam in finish grade plywood and stained it. The homeowners added faux beams throughout the kitchen and living room to make the space cohere. To avoid losing too much storage space when removing the wall, the homeowners decided to keep a portion of the wall and install a full height pantry. We installed counter to ceiling cabinets to really get as much storage space as possible. One unique feature of the project is that you won’t find outlets on the backsplash. The homeowners had us install outlet strips beneath the cabinets.

For finishes, we used white shaker cabinets with polished nickel pulls, quartz countertops, and stacked horizontal tile from Floor & Decor. Floors were 8” wide white Oak planks.
