This project we updated the entire kitchen from floor to ceiling lights. Starting with the flooring, we were able to refinish the 3/4 inch hardwood floors which was the only thing that remained original in this kitchen. We framed the 36"x96" center island, complete with a drop-in sink, quartz countertops, under counter storage, and a 12" lip for counter seating. Cabinets were custom ordered, designed by one of our cabinet vendors and installed by our crew.
As for lighting, our client wanted to have as much natural light as possible. We discouraged the idea of installing skylights due to complex structural work that would've cost more time and money. Instead, we enlarged the opening where the original sliding glass door was and installed a larger bi-fold sliding glass door. Also, we installed 12 additional recessed lights in the kitchen.
