For this project, the homeowners wanted to move the laundry room from the garage to the utility room on the 2nd floor of the house where the bedrooms are. Functionally, having the laundry in the garage made for a lot more work having to bring loads of laundry down the stairs, through the hallway and into the garage. The solution was to take up some of the walk-in closet that shared a wall with the utility room to fit a washer, dryer, and storage. For the laundry room utilities, we were able to tie into the sewer and water lines of the master bathroom.
Given that this was a laundry room, the homeowners decided to do a hexagon tile on the floors and purchase prefabricated cabinets from a vendor in Hayward. In addition to the laundry room, we installed 6” wide engineered hardwood flooring in the upstairs hallway and stairs, new stair railings from a vendor out of Martinez, a shiplap accent wall you see at the landing, and built-ins also sourced from our cabinet vendors in Hayward.
